“A Health check for your Primavera Implementation”

Primavera Professional Services can help clients make the most of their decisions, accelerating client organization's adoption of project management processes and tools through an intelligent, well-designed implementation strategy.

Every strategy contains some element of risk, and while these risks are identified, analyzed, quantified, monitored and controlled during implementation planning and execution, at times they will occur and their effects may not be satisfactorily dealt with.

This may happen for a variety of reasons,
• budget constraints
• competing project interests

Whatever - the point is they do occur and the Project Management Institute (PMI) tells us that their consequences may be avoided, or accepted rather than acted upon. The purpose of the Health Check is twofold; to revisit the effects of those risks that were avoided or accepted, and examine what those effects had on the overall success of the Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Implementation or to examine if those risks are still relevant in the business environment that exists at present.

To put it very basically, the Health Check is designed to answer the question, “On a go-forward basis, knowing what we know now, what should we do differently?”
In addition to following up on the risks from the implementation, the Health Check is also designed to ensure that the various roles in the organization are utilizing the right Primavera module and are utilizing it the right way to carry out their responsibility in the PPM environment. Even more important, the Health Check can verify that the user role, as defined (i.e., Executive, Project Manager, Resource Manager, Team Member), is correct in the manner in which it was defined and in the responsibilities assigned to it. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Health Check is designed to determine that the changes that were introduced during implementation are sustained, and that the appropriate sponsors still exist to sustain those changes and the changes that will lie ahead.

In essence, the Health Check is designed to make a “diagnosis”
of the current state of the organization in terms of the PPM environment, while focusing on those areas where improvements could be made.
